Adopt a Project Update
August 2014 through December 2015
It began with …
rectory tours in winters 2012, 2013 and 2014
a budget deficit
visibly leaking roofs
the fear of a Capital Campaign
We made…Lists of needs
Posters to visibly describe the needs
We… wrote letters
met with, emailed, and made friends with Diocesan building and grounds representatives,
researched prices online
researched prices at stores
First, we fixed the Upper Roof. Then, air conditioning was donated. We were inspired! We donated money, time and talent. We bought, installed and repaired in the church, the rectory and the sexton’s house:
American Flag, clothes dryer, dishwasher, gutters and soffits, industrial kitchen sink and faucet, kitchen floor, kitchen window, a ladder (not yet purchased), landscaping services, paint, range hood, refrigerator, the stove, sliding glass door, washing machine, and weed killer.
In this Year of the Roof, we worship and share our lives under a new Lower Roof, Upper Roof and Rectory Roof.
We donated in dollar increments of $15, $35, $50, $62, $74, $75, $100, $200, $225, $250, $300, $350, $495, $500, $650, $800, $1,000, $1,400, $1,700, $2,000. All made a difference.
We close Adopt-a-Project with the end of 2015. In 2016, we emphasize a viable routine maintenance program with our new sexton, Guy Baskinger. Let us know your ideas during 2016, we’ll take notes, and perhaps we’ll do it all over again in 2017 or 2018. Carpets and the men’s bathroom sorely need replacement, painting is always needed…we’ll find others.
